Antique Chalice Master Goldsmith Pierre Henri Favier

Active from 1846 to 1870 in Paris.

The Favier goldsmiths were the most famous makers of chalices and other religious objects.

Plain silver cup, interior in vermeil.

The false cup in vermeil is adorned with an interlaced frieze supporting three medallions decorated with the faces of Christ, the Virgin and Saint Paul. They are joined by sprays of wheat, rushes and vine leaves.

The stem is very short and the knop is ringed.

For the foot, the marly decorated with sheaves of wheat and rushes and the instruments of the Passion. The flat is adorned with three cherubs in medallions, worked in repoussé.

Minerva hallmark 1st title.

Weight: 358 g.

Good condition, but a small piece of the frieze on the false cup is missing. Visible in the photos.
