Very beautiful set of 3 large old embroideries on silk.

The cardinal virtues.

1 Prudence

Allegory of Prudence, represented by a young woman with superb drapery, holding a mirror in her left hand and a snake in her right. The delicacy of her hair and superb work in the play of colors give it all its movement. The elements enhanced with silver thread. She rests on a 3-panel base decorated with the inscriptions: "Norrest Pruden tia contra deum".

Under glass, some small holes in the bottom and small losses to the metal parts of its dress. Each element finely crafted, fresh colors. A light wetness in the bottom at the top right.

On view: 61.5 X 39.8 cm. 19th century frame in pitch pine with black threads: 69.2 x 47.5 cm.

2 The Force

Allegory of Strength, represented by a young woman leaning on a truncated column. At her feet a lion, a quiver, a sword and a shield. In her left hand she holds a crown. Her dress and headdress are richly decorated. Silver and gold thread also for the bird surmounting her helmet decorated with laurels. The whole rests on a base bearing the inscription: "Fortitudo Mea Sine Onstentatione".

Under glass, a small hole in the middle of the column, half a centimeter square, and two small wormholes in the bottom. Quality of the decoration, fresh, well-shaded colors.

3 Hope

Allegory of hope, represented by a young woman holding an anchor in her left hand and a bouquet of faded flowers in her right hand. Her dress is richly decorated. She rests on a base decorated with garlands and which bears the inscription: "SPES IMMORTALITATE PLENA".

Under glass, some small snags at the bottom left of the bottom. The decoration is in very good condition, fresh, well-shaded colors. Silver and gold wire ornaments.
