Plaster hand with bronze patina.

Plaster cast of an early edition based on the mold made from his hand at his death in 1850, by a certain Marminia.

Inscription embossed on the edge:

"Balzac 1799 - 1850"

This plaster cast is reputed to have been commissioned by the first society of friends of Balzac for its members. Circa 1900.

The original cast is kept at the Rodin Museum in Paris.

Good condition, the little finger has a small dent, and minor wear, especially at the ends.
